Birsa Munda Service Club

We have been working with BMS over the past 7 months, teaching them various creative activities like storytelling, dancing, singing, art and fitness. Each group has worked towards different CAS learning outcomes. Our groups have worked personally with all their respective groups for over 35 hours.

Art

Every week the art group has been working with the children’s artistic abilities. They’ve been focused on increasing the difficulty with each successive drawing. Their artworks include fruits, animals and sceneries.

Music:

The music group has been focused on different aspects of music with the children. The children have been exposed to different music forms such as folk songs as well as Hindustani classical music. The music group has aimed to work on expanding their knowledge on the types of music as well as helping them sing it in taal and sur.

Dance:

The dance group has worked on different types of choreography. From fast paced choreography to Hindi songs to slow paced classical dances, they’ve done it all!

Fitness:

The fitness group has ensured that the children remain active and energetic throughout the sessions. They focus on a variety of exercises that work different muscle groups. They have also taught students the importance of remaining active and the theory and rationale behind warm-ups and cool-downs.

Storytelling:

The storytelling group focused on telling the children stories. Ranging from passages from classical books to fables, they’ve ensured that all their sessions are engaging and enjoyable.
