Kick for a Cause 2022-23

Kick for a Cause Report

Kick for a Cause aims to promote sports amongst children from different backgrounds and bring them together to play football. Through the project our group of 13 students hoped to tackle the global issue of lack of opportunity in sports. The project aims at promoting an active lifestyle and the inherent connection between good physical and mental health. The organisation began in 2015 and holds an annual five-a-side football tournament where students donate the proceeds to a selected charity.

After months of planning, the football tournament was hosted on 11th September, 2022. The tournament, involving 27 playing teams, was split into three age categories: an open males category, a U-16 males category, and a females category. Overall we raised Rs. 75,000 for Aseema, a non-governmental organisation with a mission to equip children from marginalised communities with high quality, value based education. On the tournament day, a series of matches were also played by students of Aseema as well. It was very enjoyable to host the tournament and experience the high energy and excitement at Kick For a Cause 2022. After the tournament, in addition to the money we raised, we donated 2 football goals to Aseema so that they could continue playing and learning football.

We extended the project to the DAIS CAS Fete as well, during which we hosted a parents vs. students vs. teachers football tournament and raised funds for the Village Project. This enabled us to spread the message of our project and its aim. The participation and fiery competition was phenomenal. It was a very fun experience to play against our parents and teachers.

Overall, this project not only brought the joy of sports to those who otherwise couldn't afford it but it also engaged students from the school to help support a good cause.
