Visit to Femina-Class 2

Class 2 visit to Femina

As an extension of the EVS topic ‘Communication’, the students of Class 2 A and 2 B visited the Femina Publication Office at Fort, Mumbai, on 20th February, 2020, to learn about the journey of a magazine.

On reaching the Femina office, the children were warmly greeted by ‘Team Femina’. The Editor-in-Chief Ms. Tanya Chaitanya started the session by enlightening the students about the production process of a magazine. This included edit meetings, issue timelines, cover shoots, etc. The children were taken around the office and shown how designs and layouts are done, and they were made to understand the process of publishing the magazine.

With all this knowledge and new-found information, the children donned the role of writers, illustrators, editors and photographers, and got down to producing their own class magazine. The writers wrote their articles, while the illustrators created relevant drawings, which would be featured in their special magazine. The photographers who had clicked images earlier at school, contributed them to the articles and a relevant cover image was identified. All this showcased the students’ talent in all the aspects of producing a magazine. The final result is that each Class 2 section will get a magazine printed, with their names written on it, and immortalized as their very first publication. The team effort demonstrated by the children was commendable and a good learning lesson for them.

This experiential learning was informative, enriching and enjoyable. Our heartfelt thanks to ‘Team Femina’ for this wonderful experience.
