Exploring Nature’s Classroom
On February 13th, the LKG class visited the Veermata Jijabai Udyan or the Mumbai Zoo, as part of their unit 'Sharing the Planet'. The purpose of the trip was for our little learners to observe the animals in their natural habitat and to enhance their understanding of the basic survival needs of animals.
At the zoo, the students were divided into groups and taken on a guided tour led by their teachers and the zoo curator. They focussed on specific habitats and the animals that inhabit them. Students learned about the different diets, shelter needs, and behaviours of various animals.
At the end of the day, the class reflected and shared about their favourite animal and other interesting observations. Back in school, they discussed their newfound knowledge about the needs of living things and shared stories and drawings of what they saw and learned.
The LKG class had a rewarding experience during their visit. This hands-on experience reinforced classroom learning and fostered a sense of responsibility toward our planet and its inhabitants.
