Report on the Visit to the Old Age Home by III A

It was a special day for the children of III A,as they were going to visit the residents of All Saints Home at Mazgaon, which is an old age home.

 

The children were excited and curious about the visit and were looking forward to spending time with the ‘grannies’ (as they like to be addressed). We carried with us groceries, as requested by Sr. Sharda, the superintendent of the home. Some fresh snacks and fruit juice packs were taken, to be served to the ladies residing in the home.

 

We left the school at 9:30 am and reached the home at 10:00 am. The children presented a medley of songs and played on the ‘tabla’. The grannies also joined in enthusiastically, singing ‘Sare Jahan Se Accha’ with our children. They also danced to other numbers amidst cheering and clapping.

 

As some of the residents were confined to their rooms, kids went there to serve food and to talk to them.

 

 

Before saying goodbye, the children presented them with photo frames, with little thank you notes, which they had made during their Art class. The grannies were moved by the children’s enthusiasm and effort. After saying their good byes, we boarded the bus and headed back for school. The visit was a learning experience for our children, which will definitely result in a sense responsibility and appreciation for our senior citizens.
