“Sustainnovation” - Welham Boys’ School

On the 27th of September, eight DAIS students from Grade 9A participated in an online Round Square Young Social Entrepreneurs’ Conclave - “Sustainnovation”, hosted by the Welham Boys School on the Zoom platform. The goal of this activity was to enhance the spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation with the aim of helping the society at large. The conclave provided the students with a platform to present their ideas as well as learn from their friends across the world, thus sustaining the spirit of learning and leadership in these trying times.

The Conclave was spread over two days comprised of three Key modules:

  • An Article on Business/ Economics Students
  • Social Enterprise Case Study Collaboration and
  • Entrepreneurship Project - a proposal of innovative business ideas for a product that would contribute towards creating a sustainable environment.

Prior to the session, the students were divided into two groups and were asked to create a product that can be commercially sold fulfilling all criteria of Sustainnovation. The session consisted of over 150 participants from a multitude of schools from India and Pakistan. The Conclave was divided into three breakout rooms with ten teams in each. Each team showcased their products followed by a Q&A session. It was an extremely enlightening session for the young DAIS entrepreneurs who were exposed to a range of ideas and solutions to problems. They also got to explore the financial issues of businesses and various marketing strategies that other teams used. Overall, this conclave provided an enriching learning experience for the delegates, who learned about a multitude of business ideas created by students of their age from different schools, all while sitting in the comfort of their home.

Reflecting on the session, a DAIS student said, “It was great seeing the uniqueness of the ideas, as there were many problems that we knew but had never thought of such unique solutions for it before”.
