'Postcard' from Ashbury school Ottawa
On the 22nd of January 2025, six students from MYP Grade 7 represented DAIS at the Round Square Postcard hosted by Ashbury School, Ottawa. The Postcard themed - What are your IDEALS for 2025? was attended by approximately 90 delegates from 17 schools across 6 countries including India, South Africa, Dubai, USA, Copenhagen, Bogota, Sao Paulo and Berlin. Every delegate actively shared their perspectives about the different IDEALS, while also discussing insights into these topics and learning how other schools incorporated the Round Square IDEALS.
As the DAIS delegates brainstormed to create their Pretask, the first step was to choose an IDEAL that resonated with every one of them, and this ended up being: INTERNATIONALISM.
In the meeting itself, DAIS delegates exchanged valuable insights in their respective baraza groups on purposeful action, positive communication and discussed about each Round Square IDEALS in depth. They conversed on how their school embodies the IDEALS. The delegates developed an in-depth understanding of the many ways they could implement these IDEALS and values in their day to day lives as they explored the deep interconnection between Round Square and the Middle Years Programme. Both focussed on the real-life perspectives that promotes student development into lifelong learners. Overall, the delegates found the postcard session enriching as they interacted with delegates with novel perspectives. All the delegates came back with the same feeling, “I can't wait to be part of more”.
