Milee Jain, Ishaan Mehra and Keshav Mohta of Pre -8 grade help the AXF Foundation
While the DAIS students have been able to continue their education through the stupendous effort by the school, staff and faculty, not all children have been as lucky. This motivated Milee Jain, Ishaan Mehra and Keshav Mohta of Pre -8 grade to help the students of the Angel Xpress Foundation (AXF). AXF is a Mumbai-based Not For Profit organisation established 7 years ago. AXF runs 20 centres across Mumbai leveraging volunteers to provide supplementary education in Maths and English to municipal school kids. At last count, AXF had 2,200 students and 700 volunteers. Due to the lock-down, the students were not able to come to the centres and attend their regular classes.
To make sure their learning didn’t lag behind, three DAIS pre-8B students - Keshav Mohta, Milee Jain and Ishaan Mehra, took it upon themselves to produce Maths tutorials for the students of AXF. They created a dedicated YouTube channel called "AXF Online" where they started contributing these tutorials and invited others to do the same. The channel now has over 100 maths tutorials catering to Grades 1 – 5, which are available for AXF Volunteers to send to their students, ensuring that no child gets left behind irrespective of the lock-down.
The AXF children are extremely delighted that despite the lock-down, their thirst for learning has been quenched by these tutorials and are enthusiastically working with them. Inspired by them, other students also started making tutorials for the channel to cover higher grades.
