Fostering Excellence: Highlights from the IB World Schools Librarians’ Meet - Western Region

On December 6, 2024, the first IB World Schools Librarians’ Meet - Western Region conference was hosted by the Nita Mukesh Ambani Junior School in Mumbai. The one-day event, spearheaded by Mr. Abhimanyu Basu, Dean and CEO of Dhirubhai Ambani International School, brought together 36 passionate librarians from 23 prestigious IB schools across India and South Asia.

Organized by the dedicated library teams of DAIS and NMAJS, the conference underscored the indispensable role librarians play in the IB ecosystem. It served as a platform for exchanging innovative ideas, expertise, and strategies to enhance student learning and engagement.

The program drew from the knowledge and experience of the participants to feature an impressive lineup of presentations and interactive workshops, with topics ranging from supporting IB Approaches to Teaching and understanding Ideal Libraries to fostering literacy initiatives and exploring the integration of Artificial Intelligence in library practices. These sessions not only provided invaluable insights but also sparked meaningful dialogue among participants.

Beyond the structured sessions, the conference offered ample opportunities for informal networking and camaraderie, creating an atmosphere of collaboration and mutual growth. By the end of the day, participants had established a digital network to continue sharing resources and best practices, ensuring that the conversation ignited at this event would extend far beyond December 6.

The IB World Schools Librarians’ Meet was a resounding success, celebrating the vital contributions of librarians and paving the way for sustained innovation and collaboration in IB schools across the region.
