Remembering the Mahatma
Gandhi Jayanti, which is celebrated every year on 2nd October, is a significant day in India’s history. It marks the birth anniversary of the ‘Father of the Nation’, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi.
This year, to celebrate the occasion, the school’s music department had prepared a special programme that set the tone for a day of devotion and serenity. At breaktime, everyone was greeted with a heartwarming spirit by the school choir.
Our talented singers sang soul-stirring bhajans and patriotic songs to commemorate the occasion. The melodious rendition of devotional songs and bhajans was inspiring. The atmosphere was charged with a sense of devotion and reverence for the Mahatma.
The songs highlighted Gandhiji’s principles of truth, non-violence and peace, something he lived and died for. The singers were accompanied by different musical instruments in the band, like the tabla, keyboard, flute, and harmonium.
As part of the festivity, individual classes participated in activities to honour the memory of Mahatma Gandhi. The event not only fostered a sense of unity and patriotism, but also instilled in our students the importance of reflection on how they too can change the world with their words, actions, and deeds.
