Indo-French Interactions 2014

As a part of the Indo-French Exchange Programme, visiting Ermitage students interacted with students learning French as a foreign language in our IB and IGCSE sections. Here’s a glimpse of what went on in our 2nd language classes when our French guests visited us:

Year 8 IGCSE students (Mr. George Mansur and Ms. Rajani’s groups) conducted a survey in French on Food and Eating habits among the visiting Ermitage students. This being a topic that they were studying at the time, the survey results are being published on Edmodo, as a part of their activity as an IGCSE French Year group. Year 12 IB students (Ms. Helene Harle’s group) had a debate in French with the Ermitage students on current Global Issues -A topic which they were studying at the time and which is a part of IB Curriculum.

Year 9 IGCSE students of Ms. Smita Ullal and Ms. Helene Harle’s groups conducted a survey in French on Leisure and Outings (topic they were studying at the time) among the visiting Ermitage students.

Some of the Ermitage students (those from the French section) attended an interesting session by Ms. Helene Harle’s Y11 French Ab Initio group who presented an Indian festival each in French and then had a Q/A session with them. This was very useful as it was meant to help them with their IB Internal Assessment -Oral Component. Some other Ermitage students accompanied their DAIS hosts for a stimulating interaction in the IB French B SL class. The Year 11 French B SL DAIS students (Ms. Rajani Deshmukh’s group) conducted and filmed interviews with the Ermitage students on their experiences in Education and Future Career Plans –the IB Topic they were studying in class at the time.

Students found these activities highly motivating as they got a unique opportunity to interact with native speakers in their classrooms itself.
