Muktangan 2022

Over the course of our Muktangan sessions that began in August 2021, we have interacted and engaged in discussions about various topics with the grade 2 and grade 3 students of Muktangan.

Although teaching through the virtual platform did have its limitations, we tried to overcome these by selecting topics that could be taught both in an interesting but convenient manner though the virtual platform. We taught them about different traditions and festivals across India and extended our discussion and content to even festivals globally.

During our sessions we also made them aware of days such as world mental health day and world UN day and told them about mental health and why it’s important and told them about the history of the UN for world UN day. We then moved onto teaching them about the environment and about the different groups of animals. We taught them about these through videos and presentations we made and engaged in art and craft activities with them. We made them make things such as origami frogs and paper snakes made with recycled paper. These sessions were not only an opportunity for us to teach the students but we also learnt a lot on the process. We were able to learn interesting things while preparing presentations and activities for the students and also were able to realize that those students, in spite of not being in the best circumstances, were making the best of the situations and their smiles were what made our days and brought smiles to our faces as well.
