Aditya Mehta IBDP G11, Maanav Kothari IBDP G 11, and Veer Mehta IGCSE G 9 have won the "Outstanding Achievement Award - Engineering Category"
Aditya Mehta IBDP G11, Maanav Kothari IBDP G 11, and Veer Mehta IGCSE G 9 have won the "Outstanding Achievement Award - Engineering Category" at the British International Education Association (B.I.E.A.).
Drawn together by their passion for S.T.E.M. and concern for the plastic waste crisis in Mumbai, their team, "PEEL PACK" came up with an innovative packaging material using food waste and created an automated machine design that can turn kitchen food waste into sustainable food containers.
Over 1000 teams from 45+ countries participated and 43 finalists were shortlisted for the final round which involved a live presentation and interview with the judges. The team worked extensively for 4 months to research, design, experiment, and build their prototype.
The BIEA STEM Awards is an accreditation program of the British International Education Association, which aims to bring together educators and young people from around the world and provides an exciting focus to challenge their ideas, innovations, and learning.
The challenge of 2021 was "Rethink food packaging for school and workplace lunches!": innovative ideas and modern technology to devise new, sustainable ways of packaging food to reduce the amount of plastic waste produced.
