Primary Athletic Meet 2016-2017

The Primary Athletic Meet of the DAIS was held on 19th January, 2017, on the school sports ground. The Annual Sports Day is a much awaited event in our school. It was attended by the entire student body of the primary section, the faculty and a large number of enthusiastic parents.

The sports day flagged off with the March past, by students of LKG to Class 4. This was followed by the Head of National Curriculum, Ms. Zarene Munshi, declaring the sports meet open.

At the end of the festivities, it was time for the Races. The races included flat races of 50mts. and 200 mts., novelty races and relays. Then it was time for the game of strength, the Tug-of-War. The students displayed their strength, tugging away at the mighty rope. The zealous parents, gathered around in large numbers, constantly applauding the participants of the track displays. Parents and teachers also participated in races designed for them. Medals and certificates were awarded to the deserving winners.

At the end of the sports meet, after the tallying of scores, the House Championship was won by the Lion House. The proud winners took a victory lap round the field, as the spectators cheered on. Lastly, our Chairperson, Mrs. Nita Ambani, thanked the parents and declared the sports meet closed. The sports day reiterated the importance of sports, at DAIS, for fine physical and mental health of the students, to inculcate fair competition and to build team spirit.
