Primary Interhouse English Elocution Competition

“Great speakers are not born, they are trained!

The DAIS English Elocution Competition is a much-awaited primary school event. The school provides students with the platform to instill confidence in them and augment their love for the language. The students are eager to showcase their exceptional public speaking skills.

This year, the students’ enthusiasm to participate was overwhelming and it is for this reason that we held elimination rounds, to select the finalists.

The competition was conducted in 2 categories:

  • Category 1: Students of Classes 1 & 2
  • Category 2: Students of Classes 3, 4 & 5

The participants were encouraged to select a poem or extract of their choice and the topics were diverse and creative. The students were judged on the choice of poem, diction, clarity, expression, and voice projection. All participants were trained to speak without using a microphone.

The event created a positive and encouraging atmosphere, fostering a sense of camaraderie among the participants. The event was hosted by our Primary Cub Captains. The judges put in careful consideration while judging the competition, acknowledging their outstanding performances. Constructive feedback and encouraging words were received from the judges, highlighting the importance of nurturing communication skills in primary education.
