Reading For A Cause

Renaya Lakhani of Class 4 A has always been enthusiastic to participate in social productive projects and to lend a helping hand to those who need support. She started a social venture with her close friend Dilissa Tibrewala from Sulochna Devi Singhania School, named "Read & Roll with Raksha Foundation".

This amazing project ran for 4 months from June 23 to September 23 2023 and involved Renaya setting up a library of books and board games at her residential complex. Children as well as adults could borrow books and board games for a week, for a nominal fee, and the proceeds were later donated to Raksha Foundation. Raksha Foundation uses these funds to support underprivileged children and their needs. Renaya collected Rs 25000/- through this endeavour, which she donated to the foundation. Renaya learned a great number of skills through this summerlong project, namely project planning, effective delegation, financial management, sustainability in entrepreneurship and other social skills.

Renaya’s project was recently featured on FM Radio (92.7 BigFM), a testament to its successful impact. Renaya hopes to inspire other children to run similar charity projects in their communities and inculcate in them the desire to help others.

A Lesson in Social Entrepreneurship

Renaya Lakhani visited the Raksha foundation after 3 weeks of the drive, to hand over the proceeds of her project, to them.

She collected Rs 25000/- through this project and donated the proceeds to the welfare of underprivileged children at Raksha Foundation. The children at Raksha were overjoyed and presented a certificate of appreciation to Renaya for her selfless efforts.

She spent time with the children there and taught them a few origami activities. Well done Renaya!
