A Remarkable Journey of Self Discovery
Grade 11 IAYP Trip from 8th to 11th February, 2018
Ninety-seven students of IB Grade 11 of DAIS, accompanied by six teachers, a lady nurse and a security officer attended an adventure camp in Vikramgadh district of Maharashtra from the 8 th to the 11 th February,2018. While seventy five students spent two nights at the camp,a mandatory requirement for the Silver Award of the International Award for Young People( IAYP), formerly known as the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, twenty two students pushed their boundaries and proceeded to undertake additional treks & spent an extra night at a camp in Dabhosa, thus making themselves eligible for the prestigious Gold Award.
The students were divided into groups of ten and each group was assigned the task of navigating through the unknown terrain using map and compass and reach a specified destination within a stipulated time.The trails through hills , thorny bushes and river beds were challenging but the students displayed commendable spirits of determination and teamwork as they lost and found their ways in this remarkable journey of self discovery.
