IGCSE Grade 9, stands 1st position in the 3e Festival International Chess tournament
Rishit recently participated in the "20e Bois Colombes Chess Master Open C 2023" held in France from December 26th to 30th. It was a challenging tournament with 230 participants hailing from 9 different countries. What makes Rishit's performance truly commendable is that he started as the 210th seed and managed to finish 21st, securing an impressive score of 6 points out of 9 rounds. Not only did he finish strong in a competitive field, but he also gained incredibly valuable 148 Elo rating points.
Encouraged by his success in the first tournament, Rishit continued to showcase his talent at the "3e Festival International d'Echecs de Tours Tournoi A ouvert à tous," held from January 2nd to 6th, 2024. This tournament, featuring 140 players from 10 countries, including grandmasters and international masters, posed an even greater challenge.
Starting as the 121st seat, Rishit displayed remarkable consistency throughout the competition, scoring 5 points out of 9 rounds. He secured 1st position in the under 1600 rating category. His outstanding performance resulted in a significant gain of 168 rating points. Notably, during the tournament, he achieved his biggest accomplishment to date by holding International Master Peric Slavasa, to a draw. This achievement speaks volumes about Rishit's dedication and skill, marking a pivotal moment in his budding chess career.
In addition to this remarkable draw, Rishit also held two other players with ratings over 1850 to draws, showcasing his ability to compete at a high level consistently.
