Our Exciting Overnight Stay

On Saturday, 6th February 2016, classes 4A and 4B had an overnight stay at school. It was one of the most enjoyable activities ever. We reached school by 9:45 am. On arriving, we were allotted classrooms to leave our bags and then we assembled in the auditorium. There we were divided into teams. In our individual teams, we elected our own captains and decided on a name for our team.

Our first activity was the Heart and Pulse Rate Activity. We did some physical activities to find the differences in pulse rate. Afterwards we went to the CPA, where Mr. Hrithik Roshan talked to us about some values like hard work, practice, training, health, confidence etc. He did this through a talk and some videos.

After a sumptuous lunch in our school cafeteria, we went back to the auditorium and learnt how to pitch a tent and how to pack our backpacks for an imaginary camping trip. It was a lot of fun.

This was followed by a fast-paced and enjoyable ‘Scavenger Hunt’. We had to find numerous things given on a list, ranging from balls to glue, to flowers. As a result of this epic scavenger hunt, all the teams were exhausted, and luckily we cooled down while being involved in a craft activity called ‘Wealth from Waste’. Each team was handed over a tray with glue, newspapers, straws, paper cups, cotton, tape, coloured paper and crayons. We had to make something useful with the material provided. It was a challenging task, but all the teams did a fantastic job. Points were awarded to the teams, for their creations.

After the craft activity, once again we rushed for an appetizing feast of munch able snacks. Now that our stomachs were full, we were ready for our next activity. We witnessed the school security team lower the national flag, as it was sunset. The Head of Security gave us some valuable information about our national flag. Soon, biscuit tables were laid out and everyone started munching on them.

All children and teachers sprinted in to play ‘Telematches’. We started by playing a different kind of hockey with numerous coloured softballs. Our next game was tug- of-war. Each and every person tugged with all his might and after the games, everyone was drenched in sweat. So we freshened up and walked to the cafeteria for the cake cutting and dinner. The enormous cake had the words “Our dreams get Bigger!”

After dinner we all sat in a circle around a campfire, sang songs and danced merrily. Thereafter we gathered around the projector to see a slideshow of our pictures from LKG to 4th standard. They were adorable! All of us then changed into our night clothes and snuggled into our comfy sleeping bags and whispered excitedly to one another. Before long we all had drifted off to sleep.

Next morning we woke up at 7 am and went for a session of yoga. After an invigorating session, we ate a quick but tasty breakfast, changed, and went into the auditorium to play some fun Indian games. We played Kho-Kho, Kabbadi and Seven Tiles. We had a blast!

Finally, we assembled in our teams for the prize distribution. The winning 3 teams were given toys as prizes and everyone was given gel pens and a chocolate. Unfortunately, it was now time to leave. I will never forget this amazing overnight stay, in my entire life. It was the best experience we have ever had! Everyone left with a joyous smile, but with a heavy heart!
