Stuti Daga, IBDP Grade 12, published the Scoliosis Self Diagnostic Pamphlet

Stuti Daga has scoliosis - a spinal condition and she has been fighting it for the past 6 years now. This is a condition that cannot be cured and one has to live with it. Throughout her journey, she found the school to be very supportive and helped her cope with all the challenges, whether it was helping her after my surgery in her IGCSE years, or continuing to put efforts towards her love for sports. She feels she is privileged to have this support system and the right resources to have the best of care. However, many children in India do not share this access, and often let their scoliosis go misdiagnosed or not diagnosed at all, resulting in complications in adulthood. Scoliosis is a common condition yet goes unheard of, so often affecting an individual’s quality of life.

To tackle this same issue of misdiagnosis and under-diagnosis for the past 8 months, Stuti has been working on the Scoliosis Self Diagnostic Pamphlet. This is a threefold pamphlet that helps bring awareness about scoliosis and includes a self-tutorial for parents and guardians to perform the diagnostic step simply at the convenience of their homes. In order to make it more accessible at the ground level, she has published the pamphlet in 5 languages - Hindi, English, Marathi. Gujrati and Bengali. Her aim is to ensure that each parent and guardian is aware about this condition. She wants to help children suffereing from this ailment to avoid the pain that she has been through.

She is currently working on distribution across pediatric clinics and hospitals in the country. She is also reaching out to building societies, after which she plans to contact schoos. She has already initiated distribution to three hospitals in Gujrat.
