The Core Group Assembly

On Mondays and Wednesdays some children stay back in school for extra- curricular activities. These include sporting as well as non-sporting activities like basketball, football, cricket, Indian and Western Music, Indian dance and flute recital, to name a few. The core groups are a great way of exposing children to different activities, so that they can better themselves in that chosen field. They also prepare students for inter-school competitions. Every year the non- sporting core groups perform what they have learnt over the past year. This is a great way to highlight our children’s talents and abilities, to the school community. The assembly helps children to overcome stage fright and motivates them to work harder.

This year’s core group assembly, started with a flute recital, which was a fusion of the evergreen theme of Titanic and the Raag Bhopali. Next, the Indian Dance Core Groups performed folk dances and classical dances of India. The Indian Music Core groups sang popular Bollywood songs and old classics. Finally, the Western Music Core Group performed a medley of songs ranging from Opera to pop, from John Denver to Sia and High School Musical. The assembly was a wonderful way to begin the day. The entire school looks forward to this assembly, and rightly so!
