The inaugural class of Young Entrepreneurs Academy at DAIS

Mr Kishore Biyani, Founder and CEO of Future Group and Ms. Ashni Biyani, CEO of Future Consumer Ltd spoke at the inaugural class of Young Entrepreneurs Academy at The Dhirubhai Ambani School on Saturday, August 18th.

 

There were over a 100 students ages 11-18 from 23 different schools across Mumbai.

 

Mr Biyani spoke about his entrepreneurial journey and his vision for the Future Group going forward. He very candidly spoke about various failures and setbacks and also the rationale behind closing several verticals within the group. He gave his perspective on brick and mortar vs online retail platforms as well as the various digitization initiatives adopted by the Future Group. Ms. Ashni Biyani spoke about her vision for the FMCG business she is spearheading. She also shared her views on the opportunities and challenges of being a second-generation entrepreneur. Both emphasized the importance of ‘Indianess’, which is essentially an innate understanding of the Indian consumer and his/her needs. This was followed by over 45 min of Q&A by several students who has brilliant and direct questions for them.

 

Several students also shared their business ideas with Mr Biyani and got his feedback on these potential ideas.

 

Mr Biyani was kind to gift all our students a wonderful comic by Amar Chitra Katha on the Big Bazaar Story as a take home gift!

 

This was an extremely interactive and inspiring session for the budding entrepreneurs and both Mr Biyani and Ms. Ashni won their hearts with their simplicity and candour.
