UKG Learns through Nature
To inquire deeper into the current unit ‘Sharing the Planet’, the UKG learners went on a nature trail to Maharashtra Nature Park. At the park, they asked questions, made observations, collected information, and strengthened their understanding of how flora and fauna help sustain life on Earth.
The students studied various plants, trees, birds, algae, and insects such as butterflies, praying mantes, and caterpillars. The nature trail was led by well-informed experts who shared various facts about the environment. Learners used critical thinking skills to analyze each thing they saw on the trail and categorize them into groups of producers and consumers. Since our theme is ‘Sharing the Planet’, learners were sensitized towards the need to protect nature. With this understanding in mind, they chose to be caring and used soft voices while on the trail. This trip motivated them to be responsible advocates of our planet by connecting with nature. The learners understood the importance of caring for the environment and conserving the limited resources available for living beings to thrive.
