Moving Palette – Online Animation Film Festival 2025 - The British School Delhi

DAIS and NMAJS art enthusiasts showcased their creativity and communication skills through non-narrative story telling as they sent their entries to the first ever online Animation Film Festival – ‘The Moving Palette’, hosted by The British School Delhi in February 2025.

As in any creative process, the background work for creation of the pieces of student work began in the month of December 2024. The students chose to work individually or collaboratively to demonstrate their skills of visual art, animation, filmmaking and editing.

Playing with shapes, form and colour, students collaborated over several weeks to make their artwork move, dance and come to life as they explored to create non narrative films inspired by Abstract Art.

Mentored by the Art department, students drew inspiration from abstract artists like Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee and S.H Raza and artists who have represented the natural environment in their works like Henry Rousseau. Students could also choose traditional Indian art forms such as Gond Art and Warli Art.

A creative learning opportunity for the art enthusiasts across all age groups, students were supported with a guide on Stop-motion animation, shared by the host school.

Students reflected post the activity, on developing new skillsets in movie making including sequencing, drawn animation and stop motion animation along with learning the use of digital platforms to create their movie. All in all, it was a novel experience for budding artists to showcase their art through movie in a Round Square forum.

Around 11 budding artists from DAIS and NMAJS contributed to the ‘The Moving Palette’, by sharing their entries.
