A Visit to St. Catherine of Siena School and Orphanage

At our school, we believe in highlighting all aspects of a child’s personality and give them a range of choices, one of them being - the opportunity to experience the reality of life. Every year our Social Service visits are planned to sensitize the children towards the lesser fortunate in society.

We believe that all children need nurturing, love and care, but it’s the ‘special children’ who need a lot more of that, coupled with a conducive environment to play and enjoy all rights like their counter parts. We encourage and support this thought too and our goal is to create awareness about the organizations that are trying to protect the underprivileged and provide basic needs in an institutionalized setting.

The St. Catherine Home that we visit every year follows the motto - For the freedom of the Soul and Welfare of Mankind. This motto encourages them in working towards promoting "Universal Brotherhood" and creating wellness in physical-mental-spiritual areas for all children under its care. It was started with the objective to educate destitute children irrespective of caste, creed and community. The home provides the children with free basic school education and a healthy and secure home atmosphere. The orphanage includes separate dormitories for boys and girls. All children are grouped as per their age. Our children along with seven staff members were warmly welcomed by the teachers, who spoke to us about the life of

Our children were greatly moved by the neat classrooms, comfortable dormitories, the warmth and talent that reflected on each child’s face. Our children didn’t hesitate to appreciate their friendliness and willingly helped make colourful friendship bands. Many children were seen interacting animatedly while the others played football, which resulted in some ‘real bonding’ between the children. The girls of the class put up a fabulous dance show which was followed by singing by the entire class. There was positivity and happiness everywhere.

Some of the comments from the kids were- “We’re having so much fun!”, “Can we stay for some more time?” Last but not the least, “Can we come back again, soon?” These words proved that we, as a school had managed to strike the right chord within the hearts of our children.
