About the Book
Finding lives in statistics, songs in reports and civilizations in archaeology is the discipline with which this book explores the Cold War. What did it mean for the Vietnamese girl to see her village bombed and her parents die? What did it mean for the man left behind on the Eastern side of the wall in Berlin?
Poetry makes paragraphs from history books and articles pierce through the heart and creates a real story of real people. This book uses the power of the verse to give an account of the personal in the political. It narrates the stories of the Cold War in a way that gives a human face to the huge ideological battle which divided the world into Blocs, but perhaps, brought its people closer in the legacy of a shared history.
About Vrinda, the author
Writing in her free time and dreaming of a better world in the rest, eighteen-year-old Vrinda is a passionate cinephile, thespian, advocate and historian. She hopes to use her writing as a medium to put forth meaningful stories. With her eyes set on the future and her feet steadfast in the past, she wants to use the arts as a means to decipher history, giving it a human face. Based in Bombay, Vrinda nurtures the desire to travel the world, watch iconic films, read extensively, act in plays and write about.
