VIRTUAL SCHOOL

             On the Microsoft Teams platform

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, DAIS transitioned to virtual school in April 2020 to continue to
provide our students with a learning experience that is aligned with our educational philosophy, leveraging
            the power of digital technologies.

            Glimpses of DAIS Virtual School

            • We opted for Microsoft Teams on the Microsoft 365 Education suite, which is not only safe and secure,
but also has many robust features and applications to make learning more interactive.

            • Our teachers, through high-quality lessons, provide students with a blended learning experience –
synchronous instruction along with asynchronous resources support including recorded sessions.

            • The virtual school offers several opportunities for teachers to design and use a wide variety of creative
and interactive teaching techniques and activities to enhance students' level of engagement and
understanding. Tech-tools like Kahoot, Quizlet, Padlet, Minecraft, etc., are used to gamify lessons and
develop their problem-solving skills, apart from helping them immerse in learning.

            • By recruiting technology coaches and through the formation of active Professional Learning
Communities, the School continues to augment its teaching resources and strengthen its culture of
               sharing best practices.

            • The teacher-student ratio of 1:6 enables the School to provide personalised attention to students.

            • The holistic development of students is achieved through sessions on Physical Education, Drama, Music,
Dance, Art, Yoga and PSHE, which positively impact their health and mental well-being.

            • Teachers have curated and placed a huge repository of digital resources on the OneNote Class Notebook
for students to reinforce their learning.

            • Ongoing personalised feedback is integral to authentic and valid assessment and evaluation practices.
The formative and summative assessments are conducted using a broad range of tools such as Flipgrid,
Padlet and Microsoft Forms, while Exam.net is used for summative assessments.

            • The Learning Centre features digital content hosted on Follett Destiny Discover, which is organized by
topic and grade-level, and easily accessed through the school website or Microsoft Teams.

            • Experiential learning is ensured through student-led online conferences, events, symposiums, and
collaboration with other schools, through programmes like Round Square, Robotics and MUN. We
hosted our first Virtual DAIMUN in December 2020, and the theme was “The Realist Paradigm:
Collaborating in a Multipolar World”, this was attended by 288 students from 13 schools.

            • Our FRC Team “Team Elev8” launched a skill-building initiative “Robotics Deconstructed”, through
which they taught programming and CAD to over 550 students from high schools across India and
               Singapore.

            • Orientations for parents, parent-teacher meetings, assemblies, inter-house events are conducted
through Microsoft Teams, giving students and parents a varied and wholesome virtual experience.
