College Counselling

A DAIS education enables students to have the widest choice of open doors through which to walk upon graduation. No matter which part of the globe a student wishes to head and whether it is to a university, college, gap year or employment opportunity, the Career and College Counselling Department will support a students’ efforts to reach their goals.

Starting in Class X with career exploration and course choice guidance for the IB Diploma, right through to the end of Class XII when students finalize their post secondary school pathways, the Career and College Counselling Department will provide support and advice, where ever needed, to make the journey as smooth and stress free as possible.

Students and parents have access to a comprehensive online career and college exploration tool, “Family Connection”, that is linked with Naviance Succeed™, a service that we use at DAIS to track and analyze data about college and career plans, providing up-to-date information that is specific to our school. “Family Connection” allows students and parents to:

  • Get involved in the planning and advising process - Build a resume, complete online surveys, and manage timelines and deadlines for making decisions about colleges and careers
  • Research colleges - Compare GPA, standardized test scores, and other statistics to actual historical data from our school for students who have applied and been admitted in the past
  • Research careers - Research hundreds of careers and career clusters, and take career assessments like the "Do What You Are" test.
  • Create plans for the future - Build course plans, create goals and to-dos, and complete tasks assigned by the school to better prepare students for their future college and career goals.
  • Discover enrichment possibilities - Explore many opportunities for social, emotional and physical enrichment activities across the globe.
  • Keep informed -  Family Connection lets the Counselling Department share information about upcoming meetings and events and other resources for college and career information.

If further studies are part of a student’s plan then they will find that universities, locally and internationally, are eager to receive applications from them. DAIS alumni pursue their studies in a host of countries including India, USA, UK, Canada, Singapore, Hong Kong, Germany, Abu Dhabi and the Netherlands. Throughout Classes X to XII students have the opportunity to meet with hundreds of college admissions officers from institutions across the globe who will explain, in detail, the exciting possibilities available at their institutions.

Through the use of Family Connection and other valuable online resources, the Career and College Counselling Department will help students explore university and college majors and programs and provide assistance as they navigate their choices and the admissions requirements that differ from country to country and university to university. In addition, alumni and guest presenters are made available to address students about a range of topics including admission essay writing, college interviews, college life and much more.

No matter what future pathway a student chooses, the Career and College Counselling Department aims to help students begin their journey with confidence and the knowledge that a DAIS education is their ticket to a world full of wonderful possibilities!
