On Wednesday, 4th March 2020, the DAIS Leadership Series was graced by Ms Jyoti Deshpande, the President of Media and Entertainment at Reliance Industries Limited. She then went on to spend a year as the Senior Media Consultant at Mindshare UK and was a part of the core team that founded B4U Television Network, where she went on to become the International head before joining Eros International in 2001. At Eros International PLC, she was the group CEO and managing director for more than a decade and was instrumental in raising growth capital for the company. She currently heads Jio Studios and serves on the boards of Viacom 18, Network 18, Balaji Films, IndiaCast and Saavn. For her success in her field, she has been featured in Business Today’s most powerful Women in Business and Forbes Emergent 25 businesswomen in Asia list. She is also regularly featured on Fortune India’s 50 Most Powerful Women in Business list .
Her talk was both engaging and informative as she aimed to bring clarity to the many students interested in entering the entertainment industry. She spoke about her own inspiring life and stories, and how these reflected in her principles and values. She made students see behind the glamour of the industry and consider it as a real job prospect and understand it in a way that was different from general perspective. Discussing not only the many jobs and opportunities related to this industry but also how it is adapting to changing times was very helpful to everyone in the audience. Apart from her engaging talk and AVs showing the trailer of a film that she had been associated with, she also answered many questions by the students about the changing face of media, as well as advised them on steps to take for a successful future in the industry. We were very grateful to Ms Deshpande where she not only helped the next generation learn more about this field but also inspired them to pursue their dreams.
