Resilient at all odd times of life – Mrs Minal Vazirani

We were honoured to host Minal Vazirani who spoke on behalf of her organization: Saffronart, a Global Leader of Art Collection today. She is a regular panelist and guest speaker at Indian contemporary art events as an industry expert, and is on the board of advisors to the Friends of Sir JJ School of Art Trust and Time Out magazine India. Founded in 2000, SaffronArt is an online art auction site that exposes a global audience to Indian modern and contemporary art. Mrs. Vazirani gave an insightful speech about the history of her organization and the obstacles she and her husband, Mr. Dinesh Vazirani, overcame in accomplishing their passion about art. Her speech reminded us all about the importance of determination and dealing with conflicts whilst attaining meditated goals. During the establishment of their organization, they faced a lot of troubles gaining credibility since the art scene in India at the time was only just buzzing. Furthermore, they were the first of their kind to venture into a digital market. Once their organization grew, they were able to conduct auctions with famous artists over the world. As they were doing so, they faced political controversies, notably by hosting the art of M.F. Hussain. She spoke of her difficulties with the American market following the terror instilled after 9/11. However, they were resilient and are today the top auction site in India, as well as over the world. During the questions session, our students were able to ask her their own doubts about setting up a new business and being creative. She answered our queries gracefully and realistically. At the end of the day, this session gave us inspiration to follow our ambitions and have the courage to step outside the box. “Follow your passion.”
