20 YEARS OF DAIS - “In the art room, they splash every colour— to become little Picasso, Van Gogh, Freida Kahlo,

A POETIC AUTOBIOGRAPHY Salvador Dali,” said the school as the little girl picked up the paint brush like a master,
Then loudly beckoned by hundreds of books, she entered the library,
She communed with authors of many countries, And settled on the bean bag
with delight as she would enter the world of Harry Potter!

She was a child, her attention span dithered,
So off she went like her favourite wizard to the Activity room with a bunk bed
                   that the class did bequeath,

From the Activity room she went to the computer room where every desk had an ipad
                   and a colourful writing sheet,
She slipped into Minecraft mode, sitting amidst whizzing computers in number 32,
Beaming with a smile, the school whispered, “Lots of fun learning is my promise to you!”

The basketball court called out to her; she dribbled the ball a tad too fast and scored the
basket 9 times out of ten,
And the school could hear the largest cheer of yesteryears in the large school grounds-
Of sports day sprints, March Past commands,
                   Of victorious House Team roars.
Of Annual day songs, drama-skits and dances,
Of night school excited chatter, and the Fete-time banter!
Events of whole school participation, all these 20 years!

She knew it was time to head to medical room with an ouchie,
“Hello, hello!” said the little girl looking around, as she strode in the school gate. More to say hello to the Nurses and the kind medicine man.
“Hello back at you!” replied the 20-year-old warmly swinging open the door in welcome mode.
The little girl picked her bag and ran into an empty classroom,
“Are you for real or am I talking to a building?” she asked aghast. Lockers, desks, teacher’s table and a large project sheet,
“I am not just a building, I am Dhirubhai Ambani International School—a school that is a world apart.” She knew that this was her classroom where she would mingle with her mates,
The school knew she will experience many more classrooms
She ran in swinging her bag, admiring the school as she turned right towards the play area, As she treads along on her small feet.
“Ah! I love this area because I get to slide!”
The school smiled, thinking of the many games that students have enjoyed —tag, hide ‘n seek, lock ‘n key… But first she must make friends, in another beautiful sense,
Promising break-time fun to every child, year after year, the school swells with pride. The little girl asked the school, “May I be your friend?”
And the Dhirubhai Ambani International School welcomed her without any pretence,
The girl walked towards the foyer that proudly holds memories of classes that bid farewell,
“I will be your friend, mentor and guide,
Graduation day photos promising a future so bright, As I have been to every DAIS child… these past 20 years,
Further ahead is a shelf full of trophies—Best school in Basketball, Best in Dramatics, And I shall be here today, and every year after year,
Best in academics, DAIS interschool sports Avengers in the limelight. To nurture young minds to excel, is a Promise I made, my dear!”
“Come to my favourite part—the auditorium where dances, songs,
assembly performances, speeches… every talent is on display!” said DAIS
Then came the nostalgic glimpses of the celebrations of Holi, TRINA CHAITANYA
Independence Day, Hindi Diwas, children doing balle balle! Class: 5B
