Eighteen year old Aaryaman Sen is a photographer and the co-founder of the social initiative Tasveer, a nationwide project that provides pro-bono photographic services to not-for-profit organizations and aims to create a culture of community service among the youth. He is a rising freshman at the University of California, Berkeley and will talk about the power of images and how it can be amplified and harnessed by the use of social media to create change. He feels that photos can speak louder than simple written accounts of horrific events such as war – giving examples of the Vietnam War and Che Guevvera’s death. Throughout his talk he displays photographs to make the viewer’s understand the true impact that photos can have. His social media accounts are widely popular, thus augmenting the effects of empathy that the photographs have.
