Exploring the World of Colours

DAIS students of Upper Kindergarten took an educational journey, attending an art workshop at 'Art House' at NMACC, to delve into the captivating realm of colours and their ability to convey ideas and emotions. This experiential field trip aimed to enhance the students’ understanding of the visual language and the emotions expressed through various hues.

At the POP Art exhibition, the children were led through a series of exhibits that showcased artworks by Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, and Robert Rauschenberg, featuring different themes and colour palettes. The art workshop, inspired by Keith Haring's vibrant energy and bold lines, was an exploration of self-expression, emotion, and the power of colour The homeroom teachers elicited from and encouraged the pupils to identify the moods, emotions and themes expressed through the artworks.

Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama's mesmerizing infinity room allowed children to explore the power of patterns. The Infinity Room experience offered them the chance to step into an illusion of infinite space. It was a treat to see the fascination on the students’ faces as the reflections appeared to get smaller and smaller, fading into the vastness of space.

To make the learning experience more interactive, the students participated in a hands-on activity. They were provided with art supplies and encouraged to replicate their favourite artwork and connect their theoretical knowledge with personal expression.

The UKG left the Art House with a newfound appreciation for the expressive power of colours. This trip will leave a lasting impact on the students’ perception of colours, as a powerful means of communication in the art world.
