How do you balance sharing your fond memories of the
school while allowing your child to create their own
experiences?
D: I share relevant memories when my child shows interest and encourage them
to explore their own passions, focusing on values like hard work and respect. My
experiences have influenced me to prioritize a strong academic foundation,
character development, and a supportive school environment, while promoting
curiosity and a balance between academics and personal interests.
N: With my son - I usually listen attentively to him while sharing my own fond
memories to show how things have evolved. Although our school experiences
differ, I enjoy sharing inspirational stories that resonate across generations. For
instance, the puppet theater at school reminds me of Ms. Taraporevala’s puppet
lessons in 1st grade, which left a lasting impression on me. DAIS profoundly
shaped my views on education and influenced my parenting decisions. It
highlighted the impact of passionate teachers, inspired my career path, and
emphasized the importance of holistic learning—such as environmental
stewardship and kindness—as well as the value of a nurturing environment in
fostering lifelong learning.
