Ms. Mamtha Dalal, an experienced educator and head of the NMAJS Early
Years Campus, is known for her compassionate, child-centered teaching
philosophy that fosters curiosity, resilience, and emotional safety in young
learners. With nearly two decades at DAIS, she emphasizes holistic
development, blending traditional values with child-led approaches to create
a culturally rich, inclusive environment. Her belief that "teaching is a journey"
reflects her dedication to each child’s unique learning path, inspiring
confidence and resilience. Ms. Dalal’s transformative approach highlights the
power of education to shape both individual lives and the wider community.

Resilience begins with creating a safe, encouraging space where children can
make mistakes and learn without fear. I motivate them to face challenges openly,
celebrate their efforts as well as their successes, and view setbacks as chances for
growth. Encouraging trust, confidence, and a positive outlook are essential.
What role do parents play in this process?
As Winifred Sackville Stoner said, “We mothers are the porters, and our children
the clay.” Parents shape their children’s emotional and moral foundation. With
patience, love, and understanding, they can help mold their child into a
compassionate, confident individual. Children learn values, empathy, and
resilience primarily from home. It’s a shared responsibility with educators, but the
groundwork is laid at home. We try to have parent sessions to support the ongoing
work we do in school at home too!

What are your thoughts on early childhood education?
Class of 2005
The early years are a foundation for life. Young children are like sponges,
absorbing everything. Early education builds a foundation, not only in math or
reading but also in creativity, motor skills, curiosity, and social interactions.
