ICSE Programme: Classes VIII to X
The ICSE (Indian Council of Secondary Education) Programme is offered by the Council for the Indian
School Certificate Examinations. At DAIS, the curriculum is delivered in a progressive and phased manner,
enabling students to be well-prepared and future-ready. Application of knowledge and development of
analytical skills form an integral part of the Programme. It emphasises developing students as responsible
citizens who make positive contributions to society.
Class VIII serves as a preparatory year for the ICSE Programme in Classes IX and X. In Class VIII, students
study English as the First Language, French or Hindi as the Second Language, Marathi as the Third
Language, and Mathematics, History, Civics and Geography, Science (Physics, Chemistry and Biology),
Environmental Science and Computer Studies as core subjects. Computer Applications, Technical Drawing
Applications, Art, and Physical Education are offered as elective subjects in Classes IX and X.
The ICSE students benefit from developing a deep knowledge of the core subjects along with critical
thinking and communication skills. They acquire the foundation and the skills to transition seamlessly into
any national pre-university programme or the IB Diploma Programme. They participate in Dance, Drama,
Fine Arts, Western Music and Indian Music, Yoga, Model United Nations (MUN), Round Square, Robotics,
and other activities. The robust co-curricular programme of the School offers them opportunities to
develop into well-rounded individuals who organise and participate in inter-house cultural and sports
events, thus developing leadership skills and team spirit.
They have rich and meaningful interactions with international students during their participation in several
exchange programmes, thus imbibing the attributes of global citizenship. Community Service is an integral
part of learning, with students actively involved in various service projects. School trips and excursions
enable children to expand their understanding of the world from academic and cultural perspectives.
