JUDO RIA SANGHAVI REYA MEHENDALE SQUASH I recently got selected to represent India at the Asian Junior Squash Championships which
will be help in Pattaya, Thailand this June 2022.
SARA MEHTA It is an honour to represent the country. I was not only feeling great pride but also very
humbled to be given this opportunity. The Indian team selection trials was conducted for
over a week in Chennai, April 16-22nd, during which the countries top 20 players in my
category (Boys under-19) competed to make the team comprising of the top 4 players.
I finished 2nd and overall, it was a surreal experience playing competitively after over a
2 year break due to the pandemic.
While for most athletes the pandemic was a break in momentum and a setback, for me it
turned out to be a blessing in disguise. It provided me with the time to nurse an injury and
enabled me to work on both, the physical and technical aspects of my game. On a
personal level, it also allowed me to spend time with my family and friends. After this long
break, I am eager and look forward to competing again!
Lastly, I would like to specially thank all my teachers and the school staff for their constant
support throughout the years. Without their flexibility and guidance, I would not be able
to balance my academics and sporting commitment. I am truly grateful for their efforts in
helping me achieve my dreams of being a student athlete.

Played 3 tournaments in Dubai
between October 2021 and February

Best finish was tied 9th out of 80
players
I have been going to Dubai very
frequently in the last few months to
work with a very high ranked golf
coach, Alex Riggs in order to improve
my game.
I've committed to play golf for NYU
and will be part of their college team.
