Artists in Action
Artists in Action
The Artists in Action team, one of the five activities offered by DAIS in their student led initiative - 3L Round Square Online activities, was a crowd pleasing activity, as it allowed participants to explore their artistic and creative sides. The activity aimed to inspire students to pursue different techniques and styles through different mediums. It had a large number of participants, who were divided into three sub teams which were led by DAIS student volunteers.
The sessions were designed such that students from different schools could interact and engage with each other. Unique icebreakers and games were played at the beginning of sessions to let students understand each other's artistic preferences. Games like “Which art material would you be and why?” helped students connect with each other. Each session explored an art work and an origami craft piece to help hone their skills in Art. During the weeks, they explored many different art pieces like newspaper art, zentangling, doodling and blind portrait drawing amongst others. Furthermore, with origami activities like creating butterflies, hopping frogs, dinosaurs and birds, students imbibed patience while learning to work with intricate materials. Most sessions were interactive with both general and art related conversation that helped students maintain a friendly environment within the sessions. The final session concluded with a bang as the teams played “Spin the wheel” to add an element of mystery and surprise to their interesting and arty sessions. Each session was concluded with feedback from the participants for the activities and student volunteers, to help them improve their sessions.
The overwhelming feedback from the participants confirmed that the ‘Artists in Action’ activity was a huge success and allowed the participants to explore their crafty and artsy sides, whilst in the company of newly found friends, on the online platform.
