Parent Teacher Meetings: Teachers and parents meet to discuss student
progress, needs, and next steps. It provides both parties with opportunities to
gather background information, seek clarification and address concerns that
impact learning.
Orientations: Orientations are held for parents and students (where applicable) of
all classes at the beginning of each academic year, in order to orient them about the
procedures and practices followed at the school and the changes that come in with
the transition. Presentations are also conducted for subject choices wherever
applicable.
n) School and Home
Partnership between teachers and parents is vital for a good education.
Between the ages of four and eighteen, a child spends on an average 30% of
waking hours at school. This simple statistic tells us that, in the formative years of a
child, the influence of home and family plays a bigger part than what is learnt in the
school, and that the role of parents in a child's development is as important as that
of the school. Dhirubhai Ambani International School counts on the support of
parents in its commitment to do the best for its students.
We look to parents to provide a healthy and cheerful home environment,
encourage thoughtfulness, tolerance and responsibility, and foster good social
conduct.
For parents of adolescent students, there are added responsibilities of
understanding physical, behavioural and psychological changes that accompany
this stage of growth, and of taking time and effort to guide the child through
uncertainties and complexities.
The school looks forward to working with parents in this partnership and in
realising our common aim of providing a holistic education to your child.
4. PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The school expects parents to attend Orientations, Parent-Teacher Meetings, and
school functions as per the schedule communicated to them, and thus show their
interest in their child's school activities.
Parents are expected to support and reinforce the school rules and policies. They
should also familiarize themselves with the Parent Handbook for important school
policies and guidelines.
